April 23, 2026 Principal Message
Admin Corner
Good afternoon, families!
Our morning announcements have been a happening place lately, showcasing some fantastic student learning!
Did you know that over the past two weeks, Mrs. Milson organized a “Poetry Battle” featured right on our announcements? Her students recorded some really funny poems, which were shared for the whole school to hear. Each day, classes voted for their favorite poem to move forward to the next round, and now students from other classes are joining in on the fun, too. Thank you to our students for their engagement, and a special shoutout to Mrs. Milson for creating this unique literacy opportunity!
Mr. Scott and the Recorder Club have also been making guest appearances. Students have been working tirelessly during their recess breaks to earn their recorder belts! We have loved sharing the progress and musical achievements of our students (and teachers!) every Friday.
Additionally, each Monday, we weave Indigenous Knowledge into our announcements. Lately, our focus has been on spring and the importance of respecting the land—a perfectly timed message since we also celebrated Earth Day this week. In fact, many of our students were out picking up garbage around our community as part of the Town of Devon’s “Pitch-In” campaign. Way to go, students and staff, for helping make a difference in our community!
As a quick reminder, there is no school tomorrow, as our staff will be engaging in professional learning.
Warmly,
Mr. Coffin & Mrs. Kirton
Recorder Black Belt Achievement!
Congratulations to our newest Black Belt recipients!
This morning, Mr. Scott held a special presentation for the students who have reached the pinnacle of the Recorder Club. To celebrate their hard work, each student had the honor of banging the gong, a tradition that symbolizes the countless hours of practice and perseverance required to master their instrument.
"The sound of the gong represents more than just a note—it represents the grit and dedication of our students." — Mr. Scott
