Dates

Good Afternoon,

We had some wonderful learning celebrations this week:

  • Smoothie Tuesday: Did your kiddos tell you that they "drank spinach" this week? On Tuesday, we utilized funds from our Power Full Kids Nutrition grant to take our smoothie cart around to each classroom. The students enjoyed a healthy GREEN smoothie! It was a fun way to teach our kiddos that a smoothie can be a smart way to get good food in our bodies!
  • A Busy Thursday: Our Student-Led Conferences were a huge success! I can’t believe how busy our school was on Thursday night. THANK YOU for coming to support your child’s learning! Students were so excited to showcase their growth, and Mr. Scott’s music room was buzzing with talent. We also want to give a huge shout-out to our Mental Health Capacity Building Team for hosting the family activities, prizes, and food in the gym!
  • Rocks and Rings: In addition to our conferences on Thursday, our students had a blast participating in the Rocks and Rings curling program, where they had the chance to learn the basics of the sport through fun, interactive floor curling drills right in our school.
  • World Down Syndrome Day: On Friday, our students recognized World Down Syndrome Day. We learned about the valuable contributions and abilities of our friends, and many students wore unique socks to show their support. Mrs. Gerard even planned a good ol’ sock hop so we could all join in the dance together in our own unique ways!

Have a great weekend!

Warmly,

Mr. Coffin & Mrs. Kirton

Spring

Smoothies, Stones, and Socks!

We had a "green" start to our week as Mr. Coffin proved that spinach actually belongs in a smoothie! Despite some initial doubts, the students loved their St. Patrick’s Day treats—a big thanks to the Power Full Kids Nutrition grant for the support.

On Thursday, we learned how to "hurry hard" with Rocks & Rings curling. The energy stayed high all week as we hosted our Student-Led Conferences. It was heartening to see our halls filled with families eager to support student learning! We danced the afternoon away at Friday's Sock Hop to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day. Thank you for making our school community so vibrant!

A Double Dose of Support for Robina Baker Students!

We are overwhelmed by the continued generosity of our local community! A massive thank you to Devon Minor Hockey (DMH) for their ongoing support of our school. This week, Selena from DMH visited us alongside Nicole from Aurora Machine (who is also connected to the DMH team) to deliver some incredible news.

Aurora Machine generously provided a matching donation to the funds provided by DMH, resulting in a total contribution of $647.58 from each organization!

These contributions go directly into our Hardship Fund, a vital resource that ensures every student can participate fully in school life, regardless of financial circumstances. These funds are specifically used to cover field trip costs for families navigating temporary or significant challenges. Thank you, Devon Minor Hockey and Aurora Machine, for helping us ensure no student misses out on these valuable learning experiences!

We’d love to give them a second life at the dance! Donate any gently used costumes and we’ll have them available for kids who want to dress up.

Club Moo

Club Moo Program

A big thank you to all the parents who have ordered milk tickets for our Club Moo program! 🥛

Leadership students will be helping by fulfilling and delivering milk orders to each class (Kindergarten to Grade 4) at lunchtime every day.

Parents can purchase milk tickets through PowerSchool: 20 tickets (white or chocolate) for $20.

We hope to provide a 3-day turnaround. Thank you for your patience as we develop our Club Moo Program

How to use your tickets:

  • Send them all at once – Cut the tickets apart and return them in a baggie or envelope. They will be kept in your child’s reading bag, and your child can decide when to use them.
  • Send them as needed – Place one ticket in your child’s reading bag on the days you’d like them to have milk.
