Good afternoon, Robina Families,

It’s great to see everyone settling into the school routine! Please keep an eye on our school calendar as we have lots of wonderful events coming up, including Orange Shirt Day and our Terry Fox Walk. There are so many great ways to lean into learning this month as a community.

The beginning of the school year is always a good time to remind everyone of a few key routines and safety expectations:

Traffic Safety & Active Travel

• Drive with Care: Please be extremely vigilant when driving past the school. Obey all posted speed limits and keep a close eye out for our students.
• Use Crosswalks: We teach and practice safe street-crossing habits with our students every day. Please help us model this behavior by using designated crosswalks whenever you are coming to or from the school.
• Walk Your Wheels: If your child rides a bike, scooter, or e-bike to school, please remind them to "walk their wheels" as soon as they reach school grounds and on the sidewalk in front of the buses. The area gets very busy during drop-off and pick-up, and we want to ensure no one gets hurt!

Drop-Off and Pick-Up Plans

• Designated Areas: When dropping off or picking up your child, please use the designated areas located north of the staff parking lot. Additional parking is available across the street from the school or down Jasper Ct W. Please do not enter the staff parking lot at any time for drop-off or pick-up.
• Communication: Ensure you have communicated a regular end-of-day plan with your child’s teacher so they know if your child is taking the bus, walking, or being picked up. If a plan changes from the usual routine, please contact both the teacher and the main office—especially if it is a same-day change—so we can ensure your child gets safely to their destination.

Pets, Vaping, and Smoking

• Substance-Free Zone: It is strictly illegal to smoke or vape anywhere on school grounds.
• Pets on Campus: Pets are not permitted on the playground or field area during school hours (8:00 AM – 3:30 PM). While walking the family dog to school is a wonderful routine, we ask that you refrain from bringing pets to campus whenever possible. If you must bring a pet, they must be leashed and kept off school property (away from all playgrounds and entry doors). An appropriate distance is staying on the sidewalk along the road, well clear of the bus lanes and students walking by.

Visiting the School

• Secured Doors: For the safety of everyone in our school community, exterior doors remain locked during the day. If you need to enter the building, please use the front door, ring the doorbell, and sign in at the office.
• Morning Goodbyes: As tempting as it is to sneak inside for one last quick hug, please say your goodbyes outside before your child enters the building—unless you have made an explicit prior arrangement with your child’s teacher.

Old Dutch Chips Order

The RBES Parent Council is selling Old Dutch Chips.

Support our school while stocking the pantry with your favorite snacks! These are also the perfect size for Halloween treats - and the timing can't be beat!

Order deadline is Thursday, September 24th. Delivery is TBD.

How to order:

- Fill out the order form.

- e-Transfer your total to rbesfundraising@gmail.com.

- You will be contacted once the pickup date and times are confirmed.

The class that sells the most will have a Halloween treat and craft delivered the week before Halloween!

Important Note on Hot Lunch Dates

Thank you for your hot lunch orders! Before finalizing your selections, please double-check your order dates against your child's class calendar to ensure they will be in school and not away on a field trip.

If your child is absent or away on a hot lunch day, you are welcome to pick up their meal after 12:30 PM (please notify the school before 10:00 AM). Otherwise, the lunch will be donated, as refunds cannot be provided.

Club Moo Milk Program

Our Club Moo Milk Program is back! Our Moo Crew - made up of our Grade 4 Leadership students—will be helping by fulfilling and delivering milk orders to each class (Kindergarten to Grade 4) at lunchtime each day.

Parents can purchase milk tickets through PowerSchool: 20 tickets (white or chocolate) for $20.

How to use your tickets:

• Send them all at once – Cut the tickets apart and return them in a baggie or envelope. They will be kept in your child’s reading bag, and your child can decide when to use them.
• Send them as needed – Place one ticket in your child’s reading bag on the days you’d like them to have milk.
