Principal s Corner 2025

Good afternoon, Robina Families,

We have some big highlights from this week we wanted to focus in on!

  • Our Grade 4 students ventured to Riverview Middle School for their first transition activity. Riverview Middle School hosts an annual pancake breakfast for their school community and have traditionally been so generous at inviting over our Grade 4 students for their first transition activity. Students enjoyed pancakes and a tour around the school. There will be an open house at RMS for new families on May 7th from 4:00 - 6:00 PM
  • Grade 2 and 3 had Teacher’s Pet in today! Students were engaging in creative learning activities. Thank you to our parents who came to support in these classrooms.
  • PitchIN! has been a clean-up campaign for the Town of Devon. Many students and our leadership students participated in this to help keep our community clean.
  • The Grade 1 classes walked to the Devon Healing Medicine Gardens for a story and to observe the seasonal changes.
  • The entire school participated in our annual Spell-a-Thon this week! The students were so busy studying, collecting pledges, and completing their spelling tests this week. It was amazing to see how proud students were! Please return your pledges by April 30th.

We are thankful for what is ahead:

  • Tonight, our school council is hosting a Spring Dance! Come mingle with RBES families and enjoy some tunes!
  • During the dance, the Grade 4 classes are hosting their annual cake walk to raise funds for their Camp Warwa trip. Bring your $2 coins for a chance to win a cake!
  • Our Fundraising Society is also launching one of their final fundraisers for the year - Beef Jerky! See details below!
  • Next Thursday, we have purchased “Smile Cookies” for every child in the school. Funds raised in this campaign go towards the Devon Hospital Foundation. Students are encouraged to bring in a donation that day and whatever money we make we will send to the foundation! All students regardless if they donate or not will receive a cookie!

Have a wonderful weekend!

RBES 11th Annual Spell-a-thon

11th Annual Spell-a-thon

Our students did a great job on their spelling tests! Thank you to everyone who has pledged money.

To be eligible for prizes, all donations must be submitted by Wednesday, April 30th.

New this year: Pledge money can be submitted online through PowerSchool for your convenience! Thank you to the parents who have paid through PowerSchool - it will making our counting so much easier!

For more than a decade, Robina Baker families have generously supported the Spell-a-thon, helping enrich our students’ learning experiences in so many ways. Last year, funds raised contributed to wellness days, reduced swimming lesson costs, covered rising software license fees, and supported ongoing upgrades to school technology. We also brought in exciting programs and guest speakers, including Fitset Ninja, Rocks and Rings, and Hoop Dancers.

Thank you for your continued support—we can’t wait to see the positive impact this year’s Spell-a-thon will have!

Library Corner

LibraryNew Books - We are still enjoying new books on a regular basis thanks to the Scholastic Book Fair. Students are allowed the following number of books:

Grades PreK, K, 1 - 1 book

Grades 2, 3 - 2 books

Grade 4 - 3 books

Please return the books a week later when it is your student’s library day. Books can be renewed!  Just have your child ask me to do that.

Overdue notices - Some of you are getting reminders when a book is more than a week overdue and more than 3 weeks overdue. After a month, the book will be marked as lost. (see below)

Lost Books - I have marked some of the students’ books as lost and the amount will be added to your PowerSchool account.  Please be assured that if the book is found, the amount will be deleted.  These are books that have been out for more than a month. For all of these, I have done a thorough search of the library for the book. Please encourage your child to check their classroom shelves as well.

Please email me, not your teacher, if you have any questions or concerns about library items.  [email protected]

Amazon Wishlist. We have a wishlist for the library!  If you would like to buy one of these books for the library, please don’t forget to have Amazon send us a gift note with your name on it.  I like to acknowledge the person who purchased the book.  Thanks!
