Admin Corner
Good Afternoon Robina Families,
Well, I think we are finally through the cold stretch and it was a LONG one!
We ended our week with a special visitor in our grade-level assemblies. Mr. Jimmy White is a friend of Mr. Scott’s and a former radio personality. He shared an important message with our students about kindness and the importance of treating each other kindly. He encouraged students to think about the upcoming Pink Shirt Day (next Wednesday) and how we are all in this together!
Speaking of all being in this together. As has been communicated, we have learned that Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 3484 has officially served 72 hours’ notice of job action to Black Gold School Division. On Monday, February 24th at 7:45 a.m., all BGSD support staff will start full strike action.
Our support staff are an essential part of our school community, and their dedication does not go unnoticed. We will miss them greatly in the days ahead, but we know that this action comes from a place of deep commitment to the work they do.
Later today, please expect an email from Mr. Coffin regarding an update as to how this will impact our site specifically.
Mr. Coffin
Events and Important Dates
Please check the calendar for important dates and events.
Library Corner
New Books - We are still enjoying new books on a regular basis thanks to the Scholastic Book Fair. Students are allowed the following number of books:
Grades PreK, K, 1 - 1 book
Grades 2, 3 - 2 books
Grade 4 - 3 books
Please return the books a week later when it is your student’s library day. Books can be renewed! Just have your child ask me to do that.
Overdue notices - Some of you are getting reminders when a book is more than a week overdue and more than 3 weeks overdue. After a month, the book will be marked as lost. (see below)
Lost Books - I have marked some of the students’ books as lost and the amount will be added to your PowerSchool account. Please be assured that if the book is found, the amount will be deleted. These are books that have been out for more than a month. For all of these, I have done a thorough search of the library for the book. Please encourage your child to check their classroom shelves as well.
Please email me, not your teacher, if you have any questions or concerns about library items. [email protected]
Amazon Wishlist. We have a wishlist for the library! If you would like to buy one of these books for the library, please don’t forget to have Amazon send us a gift note with your name on it. I like to acknowledge the person who purchased the book. Thanks!
