January 23, 2026 Principal Message

Good Afternoon, Everyone,

This past week, we have seen lots of great things happening in our school:

• Teachers have been busy behind the scenes working on student report cards! We appreciate that
• We hosted our first Kindergarten Open House on Wednesday evening and saw many families come through our doors! We are grateful to our School Council, who were here this year as well, sharing all the great work they do with these parents. Thank you to our ECS team for opening their classrooms and meeting new families. Our Kindergarten numbers are continuing to grow but there is still time to register! Please encourage anyone you know to come check out the school and register!
• Students wishing to enroll in our EIPK (Early Intervention Pre-Kindergarten) classes can do so beginning February 1st. We are excited to host another open house specifically targeting these families.
• We’ve seen students doing all kinds of great learning: marble mazes, reflective writing, engaging in new Math fluency programs to name a few!

A few things on the horizon:

• Alberta Education and Childcare Assurance Survey is open! Grade 4 parents, please watch for a code to come home soon, along with a follow-up email from me. This survey provides the school with valuable feedback to support our learning goals in the school. All teaching staff and Grade 4 students also complete the survey. 
• Report cards will be available for viewing on January 30th. You just need to log in to your PowerSchool to view!
• We have a School Council meeting next Wednesday at 6:00 PM. If you are able, please join us! 
• We have a Professional Development day next Friday, January 30th. 
• Winter Walk Day is February 4th. Please reach out if you’d like to join!
• During the month of February, we will be participating in Jump Rope for Heart to raise funds for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Students will be focusing on their skipping skills all while raising awareness and funds for a good cause.

🏒 Grade 3 & 4 Floor Hockey Tryouts 🏒

Exciting news! Floor Hockey tryouts for Grades 3 & 4 start next week.

Girls:

• Monday at lunch recess
• Wednesday after school

Boys:

• Monday after school
• Thursday at lunch

Reminder: Pick-up for after-school tryouts is at 4:00 PM.

You can now register your child for Kindergarten for next year! Our small class sizes mean spaces fill up quickly — don’t wait to give your child a place in our amazing Kindergarten Programs. Full- and half-day options available.

Club Moo Program

A big thank you to all the parents who have ordered milk tickets for our Club Moo program! 🥛

Leadership students will be helping by fulfilling and delivering milk orders to each class (Kindergarten to Grade 4) at lunchtime every day.

Parents can purchase milk tickets through PowerSchool: 20 tickets (white or chocolate) for $20.

We hope to provide a 3-day turnaround. Thank you for your patience as we develop our Club Moo Program

How to use your tickets:

• Send them all at once – Cut the tickets apart and return them in a baggie or envelope. They will be kept in your child’s reading bag, and your child can decide when to use them.
• Send them as needed – Place one ticket in your child’s reading bag on the days you’d like them to have milk.

February Hot Lunch

This is the schedule for Hot Lunches this month:

Absent Students

If your child is away on Hot Lunch Day, you’re welcome to pick up their lunch after 12:30 pm.

Kindergarten Students

If you’re ordering for a Friday, please double-check the Kindergarten calendar to ensure your child attends that day. If an order is placed in error, you may pick it up after 12:30 pm.

Please let the school know by 10:00 am if you plan to pick it up; otherwise, it will be donated. Refunds are not available.

Library Corner: 

• Lost Books: If you think one of your child’s books is lost, please let me know. The amount gets added to your PowerSchool account where you can pay it. If you find it back and you’ve already paid the amount, it will go as a credit on your account towards other fees. Thanks!
• Book limits for students are as follows:

            Grades PK, K and 1 - 1 book

            Grades 2 and 3 - 2 books

            Grade 4 - 3 books

•  Amazon Wishlist. We have a wishlist for the library!  If you would like to buy one of these books for the library, please don’t forget to have Amazon send us a gift note with your name on it.  I like to acknowledge the person who purchased the book.  Thanks!
