June 20, 2025 Principal Message
Admin Corner
Hello Robina Families,
I’m happy to share that I’ve recovered enough to return just in time for the final stretch of the school year! My knee surgery went very well, and I am incredibly grateful to our entire team for keeping everything running so smoothly in my absence. A special thank you goes to Mrs. Kirton, who took on both her LST responsibilities and the extra work of managing the school — no small task! You may have also met Ms. Hawkins, and we were thankful for her support during this time.
This week was another example of how busy and exciting June can be! We were fortunate to welcome The Joe Show, which, from all reports, was a fantastic event for students. This celebration was made possible by funds raised through our Spellathon — thank you for your support! The Spellathon also allowed us to bring in an Indigenous Hoop Dancer, a meaningful and well-received learning experience for students and staff alike.
As we near the end of the year, the past few days have been filled with special moments. On Thursday, we held our final whole-school assembly. Highlights included a wonderful ukulele performance from our Grade 4 students, a poem shared by Mrs. Mullen’s and Mrs. Nuttall’s classes to get us into the summer spirit, and a symbolic “changing of the guard” as students shifted to their next seating arrangement. We also proudly unveiled our collaborative Indigenous art piece, beautifully curated by our students under the guidance of Ms. Aimee Movold.
Thursday and Friday also marked the end of the school year for our EIPK and Kindergarten students. We had so much fun celebrating and playing with our youngest learners as they prepare for their next big adventures in Kindergarten and Grade 1. We can’t wait to watch them continue to grow!
Our Grade 4 students capped off their week with an exciting trip to Camp Warwa — a wonderful way to celebrate their time at Robina. We look forward to seeing Grade 4 families join us next Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. for a short farewell gathering.
Looking ahead, we know many students (and parents!) are eager to know what next year will bring — who their teacher will be and who will be in their class. Below, you’ll find an outline of our current staffing configuration. Families will receive welcome letters via email in late August, which will include their child’s teacher assignment. Please know that class lists have been thoughtfully created by our current classroom teachers, considering many factors to support student success. If you feel there is important information I should be aware of as we finalize these lists, I welcome you to contact me directly. However, I want to emphasize that specific placement requests are very difficult to accommodate, as we place great trust in the professional judgment of our staff.
Later next week, we’ll send out our final Principal’s Corner of the year with all the information you’ll need as we head into summer and prepare for the year ahead.
Finally, I want to extend our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Mrs. Christian. After more than 30 years of dedicated service as a school secretary, Mrs. Christian will be retiring at the end of the school year. We will dearly miss her energy, warmth, and unwavering commitment to our school community. She is truly deserving of this next chapter, and we know we’ll still see her around town. Please take a moment to stop by, call, or send her a note to wish her well!
Thank you for your dedication, passion, and ongoing support this year. We are so grateful for our Robina families!
I hope you have a great weekend. Be sure to check out the Town of Devon's National Indigenous Peoples Day Celebration - details below.
