Principal s Corner 2025Good Afternoon, Robina Families,

Looking ahead, we’ve got some exciting things on the horizon! Our Grade 4 students will be heading over to Riverview for a pancake breakfast—a great chance for them to get a taste of what’s next. We’re also gearing up for more field trips, giving students hands-on, real-world learning experiences beyond the classroom.

Meanwhile, our amazing School Council has been working hard behind the scenes. Next Friday, they’ll be hosting a School Dance, complete with the always-popular Grade 4 Cake Walk to help raise funds for their upcoming trip to Camp Warwa.

Wishing you all a wonderful long weekend!

RBES 11th Annual Spell-a-thon

11th Annual Spell-a-thon

All students have now completed their pre-tests, and word lists have been sent home—be sure to check backpacks and reading bags!

Families can sponsor students in the way that works best for them—either with a flat donation or by pledging an amount per correctly spelled word (e.g., $0.25 per word). After students complete their official Spell-a-thon test, it will be sent home so you can tally up pledges, if applicable.

To be eligible for prizes, all donations must be submitted by Wednesday, April 30th.

New this year: Pledge money can be submitted online through PowerSchool for your convenience!

For more than a decade, Robina Baker families have generously supported the Spell-a-thon, helping enrich our students’ learning experiences in so many ways. Last year, funds raised contributed to wellness days, reduced swimming lesson costs, covered rising software license fees, and supported ongoing upgrades to school technology. We also brought in exciting programs and guest speakers, including Fitset Ninja, Rocks and Rings, and Hoop Dancers.

Thank you for your continued support—we can’t wait to see the positive impact this year’s Spell-a-thon will have!

Drumming With Mrs. Bee

We were so fortunate to have Mrs. Bortscher at our school on Friday. Deborah Bortscher is a Certified Drum Circle facilitator who loves to bring the joy of drumming in a group setting using games, body movement, songs, and improvisation. The students were thrilled to make music on the drums.

Library Corner

LibraryNew Books - We are still enjoying new books on a regular basis thanks to the Scholastic Book Fair. Students are allowed the following number of books:

Grades PreK, K, 1 - 1 book

Grades 2, 3 - 2 books

Grade 4 - 3 books

Please return the books a week later when it is your student’s library day. Books can be renewed!  Just have your child ask me to do that.

Overdue notices - Some of you are getting reminders when a book is more than a week overdue and more than 3 weeks overdue. After a month, the book will be marked as lost. (see below)

Lost Books - I have marked some of the students’ books as lost and the amount will be added to your PowerSchool account.  Please be assured that if the book is found, the amount will be deleted.  These are books that have been out for more than a month. For all of these, I have done a thorough search of the library for the book. Please encourage your child to check their classroom shelves as well.

Please email me, not your teacher, if you have any questions or concerns about library items.  [email protected]

Amazon Wishlist. We have a wishlist for the library!  If you would like to buy one of these books for the library, please don’t forget to have Amazon send us a gift note with your name on it.  I like to acknowledge the person who purchased the book.  Thanks!
