Grade 1-4 Swimming Lessons

We are so excited that our Grade 1–4 students will be heading back to the Devon Community Pool for swimming lessons this year! This is a wonderful part of our Physical Education and Wellness (PEW) program, helping our students build physical literacy and confidence in the water.

When are we swimming? Lessons will run from June 15–18. Please keep in mind that while we don’t let a little rain or cold weather stop us, we will only postpone lessons if there is thunder, lightning, or hail. If the pool requires unexpected maintenance, we’ll be sure to update you as soon as possible.

Important Details & Cost:

• The Itinerary: Each class will enjoy a 30-minute session daily. We recommend checking theclass schedulecloser to the date for any minor timing adjustments.
• Reduced Pricing: Thanks to the amazing success of our Spell-a-Thon fundraiser, we’ve been able to lower the cost for every student! The actual cost is $39.47, but families only need to pay $30. We are so grateful for your support in making this happen.

What we need from you:

• Please complete the permission form on PowerSchool by June 5. The form includes a section for you to provide your child's current swimming level—this information is essential for the pool staff to place your child in the correct lesson group!
• Please note: Students must have a completed form and paid fees by June 12 to participate.

Parent Volunteers:

The pool requires a different ratio of parent volunteers based on the age of the students.

• Pre-Kindergarten: One to one. Parents must be in the pool with their child.
• Kindergarten: One adult per every 3 students is required.
• Grade 1- 4: One adult per 3 students under age 8 is required; One adult per 6 students is required for children over the age of 8 years.

We love providing this opportunity for the kids, but we can only do it with your help! Please let us know if you can volunteer so we can ensure the trip goes ahead as planned.  You can indicate on the permission form or reach out to your teacher if you are willing to volunteer in the pool.

There is no cost for this field trip. Please complete the PowerSchool permission form the day before your first free swim day.
