Welcome Back
Welcome to Robina Baker Elementary School! Whether you are a returning or new family, we are so glad you are here and reading this message.
We hope you had a wonderful summer connecting with friends, family, and enjoying the beautiful outdoors. Our teachers and support staff are finishing their last weekend of summer vacation, but are excited to return for our staff workdays on Monday and Tuesday.
Robina Baker is a unique school within the Black Gold School Division, as we're the only EIPK-Grade 4 school. We are so thankful to be in a building filled with so much joy and a love for learning.
I’d like to take a minute to welcome back Mrs. Tewitz and Mrs. Gerard this school year. We are excited to have you both back! Also, we’d like to welcome Mrs. March, our new financial secretary, who is joining us in the office. Be sure to stop in to say hello and introduce yourself!
I won't take up much of your time, but please take a few minutes to read through the information below. We have some important updates about attendance reporting, drop-off procedures, and general information we'd like to share with you.
Finally, be sure to stop by on Monday at 4:00 for our Welcome Back BBQ! Come meet our staff, see old friends, and enjoy a hot dog. Of course, if you can’t make it - we’ll see you for our first day of school next Wednesday!

On Monday, August 25th, you will receive confirmation of your child’s homeroom classroom along with a letter from the teacher introducing themselves. 2025-2026 Staff & Classes
Welcome Back BBQ
We’re excited to welcome everyone back with our annual BBQ on August 25, starting at 4:00 p.m.!
Follow your nose to the front doors for a hot dog, then head inside to tour the school and meet your child’s teacher in their classroom. We’ve coordinated the schedule with Riverview to make things easier for families with siblings at both schools.
Bring your school supplies, enjoy a bite to eat, and reconnect with fellow Raptors as we kick off another great school year together!
First Day of School (Grade 1-4)
The first full day of school for students in Grades 1-4 is Wednesday, August 27th. All students are welcome through the front doors of the school for the first day. Staff will help direct students to their classrooms. Please share your first day of school photos with us – you can email Mrs. Horrocks.
First Day of School (Kindergarten)
Kindergarten Students begin their school year with staggered entry. Staggered entry allows an opportunity for teachers to go through the routines with fewer students.
K1 - The first full day of Kindergarten with the whole class will be Friday, August 29th.
K2 - The first full day of Kindergarten with the whole class will be Tuesday, September 2nd.
K3 - The first full day of Kindergarten with the whole class will be Tuesday, September 2nd.
First Day of School (EIPK)
Mrs. Porter will contact Early Intervention Pre-Kindergarten Parents regarding orientation visits, staggered entry dates, and all other details as it pertains to Early Intervention Pre-Kindergarten.
Before School Routine and Bell Times
The first bell of the day is at 8:25 a.m. Having your child arrive as close to this time is possible is best as this is about the time when the bus arrives at the school. Please DO NOT send your children to school prior 8:20 a.m. as there is no supervision outside until that time. Before School, students in Grades 1-4 will be permitted to play on the new park, old park, or in the fields. Once the bell rings, students will need to go to their entrances.
If you need childcare prior to 8:20, please get in touch with Happy Kids Childcare to see if they have availability for before-school care.
Entrance 1 - 1B, 2A & 3B
Entrance 2 - 3A & 4A
Entrance 3 - 1A & 4B
Entrance 4 - EIPK, K3 & Happy Kids
Entrance 5 - K1, K2, 2B & 3-4C
You will notice a new sidewalk has been installed on the west side of the school. This is to ensure that a safe surface (particularly in the winter) can be accessed.
New Sidewalk for Safer Access
We’re excited to share that a new sidewalk has been added on the west side of the building, leading to the back tarmac! This improvement means families whose children use the back entrances can now drop off safely at the front of the school and still have a clear path to the back.
When winter arrives (though we’re not rushing it!), the sidewalk will also make it easier for us to clear and salt the way—helping ensure safe access for everyone year-round.
School Supplies
If you have not yet picked up your school supplies, you can find information on our website by clicking below. There are two ways to get your school supplies, online through School Start or using the lists to shop for yourself.

Mabel’s Labels For Your Supplies
If you purchase Mabel’s Labels to label your school supplies, your child’s supplies will be labeled all year and Robina Baker will get paid!
New This Year: SafeArrival Reporting System
We’re excited to share that Black Gold is introducing the SafeArrival Reporting System for attendance. This new system makes it faster and easier for parents to let us know when their child will be away from school.
With SafeArrival, you can:
- Report absences in advance – let the school know ahead of time if your child will be away.
- Quickly respond to absence notifications – confirm and provide a reason if your child is unexpectedly absent.
Best of all, you can manage attendance for all of your children in one place, making communication simple and convenient.
