Summer & September Information
At the end of August, you will receive a letter from your child’s new teacher welcoming them to their class.
The first day of school for Grade 1-4 students is Thursday, August 27th. If you know your child will not be at school on their first day, or any day, please report their absence on SafeArrival.
Kindergarten students' staggered entry dates will be emailed to you. For our EIPK families, we will send you more detailed information in the later part of summer as well.

We will have a Meet the Staff Event for all of our families on Tuesday, August 25, from 4:00 to 5:15 pm.

REGISTRATION OF NEW STUDENTS
All new families are to register their child(ren) online via PowerSchool Registration, which is available on the Black Gold School Division website at: New Student Registration
The school office will open for the processing of new registrations and appointments starting on August 20th. The school will send a confirmation to parents when their registration has been accepted. Families interested in a school tour can call the school after August 21st to make arrangements.
Welcome Back BBQ
The school will be hosting a Welcome Back BBQ on Tuesday, August 25th at 4:00 PM. All families are welcome!
RETURNING STUDENTS - VERIFICATION FORM
Students who were attending a Black Gold School Division (BGSD) school in 2025-2026 and are returning to a BGSD school in 2026-2027 are automatically registered for the 2026-2027 school year.
*Please Note that Pre K students who will be attending Kindergarten are not automatically registered, even if they attended a Black Gold school in the previous year. These students will need to register.*
All BGSD families are expected to complete the Student Enrollment Verification Form for the 2026-2027 school year. In late August, parents/guardians will receive an email via SchoolMessenger with details on how to access this form during the first week of school.

EARLY CHILDHOOD SERVICES (ECS): KINDERGARTEN & PRESCHOOL PROGRAMS
Kindergarten
Our Kindergarten classes are:
Full Days Monday, Wednesday, and scheduled Fridays (M/W)
Full Days Tuesday, Thursday, and scheduled Fridays (T/TH)
Half days, Monday to Friday
Full Day Kindergarten Times:

Lunch Hour Time: 12:00 - 12:50 pm
Dismissal Time: 3:00 pm

Staggered Entry days will be on August 27th and 28th. You will receive communication and a Welcome Letter from your child’s teacher between August 21st and August 23rd. The first full day for Monday/Wednesday will be August 31st. The first full day for Tuesday/Thursday will be September 1st. The first day for the morning class will be August 31st. Calendars will be posted on our website.
Early Intervention Pre-Kindergarten (EI-PreK)
Every child grows differently. Our Early Intervention Pre-Kindergarten (EI-PreK) provides specialized support for "little learners who need a little more" with communication, following directions, or social-emotional development. Available at Calmar Elementary, École Bellevue, École Corinthia Park, Linsford Park, Robina Baker, and Thorsby Elementary, our program helps children build the confidence and skills needed to thrive. Children may qualify as early as two years and eight months old (by August 31) if they meet eligibility criteria. Let us partner with you to give your child a strong start. Visit www.blackgold.ca/pre-kindergarten to learn about our Alberta Education funded programming today; please return on August 24 to begin our free intake and screening process as we partner with your family for a strong start to school.
EIPK Programming:
There will be 4 cohorts of students attending EIPK Programming:
BLUE GROUP: Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday
GREEN GROUP: Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday/Friday
YELLOW GROUP: Monday/Wednesday/Friday
ORANGE GROUP: Monday/Tuesday/Thursday/Friday
August 27-September 3 is dedicated to School Intake. EIPK Staggered Entry days will be September 4th to September 9th. The first day of regular programming will be September 10th.

Mrs. Gerard (megan.gerard@blackgold.ca) will communicate with families regarding which group they will be attending.
To ensure a balance of strengths and needs across all programs, program times will be communicated directly by the school to all eligible families in September once school staff have had the opportunity to meet all the children in person and perform any necessary assessments.
