COMMUNICATION

COMMUNICATION

The majority of our school communication is digital.

Website: https://rbes.blackgold.ca/

Did you Know? If you click on the search bar that appears at the top of the page on all of our website pages, it will give you a drop down list of our most popular searches to make it easy for you to find.

Email & Text:

There are regular emails from the office and we often include a text to let you know to check your email. It is really important to ensure that we always have an up-to-date email address for you.

Principal’s Corner Weekly Update:

During the school year you will receive an email with a link to the current weekly message. These emails are scheduled to go out on the weekend. The messages are both celebratory and informational in nature. If you read these emails each week, you will always be up to date with important news and dates for our school.
You can also look back over previous updates by using the link on our website . . . Can’t find it? Click on that search bar and it is one of our Popular Pages links.

Calendar:

We update our calendar on the website quite regularly. This is a great place to check for school events. You can also subscribe to our calendar to make it easier to use. The subscribe button is located below the monthly view on the calendar page. You can also check out our RBES Activities & Events Page under the Calendar tab. If you have a gmail account you can subscribe to our calendar and view updates as they happen.
Can’t find it? You guessed it! Click on that search bar at the top of any of the website pages and it is one of our Popular Pages links.

Phone Calls:

Our office is open from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm to receive parent phone calls. You can find our hours and contact information at the bottom of our website page if you ever forget when we are open.

Meetings:

Meetings can be in person or virtual at parent request. Please contact your child’s classroom teacher directly to set up a meeting if you need to discuss anything. Teachers may also request to meet with you at random times throughout the year.
RBES holds scheduled parent meetings for all families in the fall and hosts student led conferences in the spring.

Teacher Communication:

In addition to scheduled school meeting opportunities and one to one requested meetings, classroom teachers utilize email, phone calls, messages in the student agenda (grade 1-4 only), blogs, and PowerSchool to share information with you.

Teacher Email Guidelines:

Please understand that if you email during class time, it is unlikely you will receive a prompt response. Teachers are busy with students and supervision duties during the school day. Many have schedules that only allow them to answer emails before and after school. If you need to send an urgent message, please call the office.
Our staff will always strive to answer emails within a day or two at the most, unless there are extenuating circumstances. We ask our staff to respond to emails between the hours of 7:30 am – 5:00 pm on scheduled school days. This allows our staff to attend to home responsibilites outside of those hours and it reduces the need to check for messages constantly. They also need not worry about missing something important.
**If you must email outside of these hours due to your own schedule, please understand that the teacher will respond when they can during the hours as outlined above. We appreciate your support in helping to work towards effective communication between home and school.

Absence Reporting:

With a focus on student safety, we appreciate you taking the time to let us know when your child will not be at school. To make it easier, we have this quick form you can use, or call the office and leave a message at 780-987-3705.
Can’t remember where the form is? Use the search bar trick on the website to get the dropdown menu with the link to the form … easy peasy!

Last Few Words:

Communication is a very important part of our school culture! We truly believe in a strong partnership with our families to ensure student success. If you ever have any questions or feedback, please let us know. It is important to communicate sooner rather than later with your classroom teacher if you have any concerns. Our friendly office staff are also always here to help out with general information or questions.
Looking for contact information for staff? You can find teacher emails and blog links on our staff contacts page under the About tab on the website. Please note: This page is usually updated in September. Additional staffing changes often take place throughout that month.
