We had an amazing first week back at school! It was so lovely to see everyone’s smiling faces. It has been very clear that everyone did an amazing job of “taking care of you” this summer. Our students are refreshed and ready to dig into learning.
Last week, I presented to our staff “The August Message”. The point of “The August Message” is to share some reflection and some inspiration for the year to come. We celebrated the wonderful successes from last year and paused to reflect about thoughts about next year. We encouraged our staff to “be brave” and “lean in” to new learning and opportunities. As such, you may hear me referencing these sayings in our Principal Corners each week.
We saw a lot of bravery and leaning in this week. For parents, this might have been dropping your kiddos off after a wonderful summer together (or a first time drop off for a new kidner parent). For our teachers, this might have been starting at a new grade level this year like Mrs. Dupont, Mrs. Milson, and Mrs. Rothfos. Our support staff also experience lots of change year to year as many of them are working with new teachers and new students. Everyone is leaning into these moments and embracing the new learning and opportunities (and doing a remarkable job I might add!)
In the weeks to come we will continue to fall into important routines and we’ll also strive to communicate with you important information as it arrises. Please review the below sections for information about the school.
Have a wonderful long weekend. We look forward to seeing everyone next Tuesday.

Cell Phones / Bring Your Own Devices
As you might be aware, in June, the Government of Alberta implemented Standards for the Use of Personal Mobile Devices and Social Media in Schools. The impact of this is rather insignificant within our school since the majority of our students do not have a mobile device. That being said, as we have in the past, should your child come to school with a mobile device, this device must remain off and in their backpack for the entirety of the day. Our School Division is currently developing their policy around this as they have until January 1st to do so. Stay tuned for more information. If you have any specific questions, please do not hesitate to contact Mr. Coffin.
