Good Afternoon Robina Families,
It’s come to our attention that there was a glitch with the division messenger system for the past two weeks so there is a chance you didn’t get the email to our Principal’s Corner. We apologize for this inconvenience! Please know that regardless of whether you hear from us, you can always access our Principal’s Corner each Friday by 6:00 PM.
December has arrived and the business of the season is in full swing. We are proud this month to have so many events that are bringing our families together in the building.
This past week we had some great highlights:
- Our staff participated in some great learning on Monday’s PD Day. Everything from Visible Learning to Executive Functioning to First Aid was on the docket!
- The Grade 3 class traveled to the Telus World of Science for experiential and hands-on learning. We heard some great stories as they came off the bus. Thank you to Mrs. Spreen and Mrs. Rothfos for organizing and the parents who took time out of their schedules to supervise!
- The weather cooperated for the Grade 4s to go skiing today! We also appreciate the hard work that goes into planning a trip like this – thank you Mrs. Forhuck and Mrs. Tewitz.
- Our School Council held a holiday sweater-making event on Tuesday. I heard it was a busy but fun night for some of our community to gather together! Thank you to our hard-working School Council and Fundraising Society for organizing.
- The hallways are buzzing with students practicing for the Winter Concerts. Mr. Scott and the students have been hard at work putting it all together.
- The Food Bank bin has been overflowing. Thank you for your generosity to our community!
Looking ahead:
- Tonight is a family movie night that our school council is hosting. This is a fun, but low-key event! Bring your PJs, blankets, and something comfy to sit on! The school council will be selling popcorn and water, but feel free to bring your own little snack. Doors open at 5:30 and the movie will start at 6:00.
- Next Thursday our Mental Health Capacity Building team is hosting a cookie decorating and craft night in the gym from 5:30 – 6:30 and a simple hot dog supper will be provided! The last day to RSVP for this event is Sunday. Please click here to register!
- Our Winter Concerts are coming up. See below for details.
And just a few reminders from last week:
- Cold Weather – The cold weather has arrived. Please ensure your child is coming to school with ski pants, jackets, mitts, and toques.
- Cross Walk- We have noticed a significant increase in our community not using the crosswalk and have seen vehicles having to come to a quick stop. It is vital that anyone leaving the school grounds is using both crosswalks.
- We started a Food Bank drive last week. Please give if you can!

On Thursday, December 19, Grade 1-4 parents have two chances to watch the Winter Concerts. In the afternoon, the students will rehearse starting at 1:00 p.m. In the evening, the doors will open at 5:45 p.m. and then the concert will start at 6:00 p.m
Concert Comfy Couch
On both evening Winter concerts, we will be running our Comfy Couch Contest for a student to win the best seats in the house. The winner’s family or any other guest can sit front row and centre. Students can enter by bringing in a food donation to the Leduc & District Food Bank, or by colouring one of our “Winter Concert” posters. The posters are available in the office.
Food Bank Drive
The Leduc Food Bank is a frequent donor to us and the school. They often supply snacks for our snack bins as well as sandwiches to students in need. This holiday season, the hockey team of one of our students is organizing a food drive! We have a large box set up in the foyer. Please, if you are able, feel free to bring in a donation. We’d love to have the box overflowing! If a student brings a donation they will also be entered into our annual Comfy Couch Draw for our Christmas Concert. We recognize that not everyone may be able to donate so we also have Raptor Colouring sheets in the office for students to pick up to colour should they wish to be entered into the draw.
Family Craft & Cookie Night
Please join us on Thursday, December 12 from 5:30 – 6:30 pm to decorate cookies & craft with your family! The supplies will be provided – and we will have hot dogs available too! There is no cost for this family fun night!
We need an RSVP so we know how many people will be attending:
Camrose Casino Volunteers Needed
The RBES Parent Fundraising Committee is in search of volunteers to work at a casino in Camrose on March 10 & 11, 2025. This is a great opportunity to get involved and help raise some much needed funds to benefit our school and our community. All meals will be paid for while on shift. If you are interested, please fill out the form and the Fundraising Committee will reach out.
Library Corner
- Students have looked at the new books acquired through the Book Fair so far. They put some books on hold and next week the books will start circulating. Thanks again!
- Students are allowed the following number of books:
- Grades K and 1 – 1 book
- Grades 2 and 3 – 2 books
- Grade 4 – 3 books
- Please return the books a week later when it is your student’s library day. Books can be renewed! Just have your child ask me to do that.
- Overdue notices – Please do not be concerned if you receive an overdue notice. These are just reminders and you will not be charged any late fees. Please email me, not your teacher, if you have any questions or concerns about library items. [email protected]
- Amazon Wishlist. We have a wishlist for the library! If you would like to buy one of these books for the library, please don’t forget to have Amazon send us a gift note with your name on it. I like to acknowledge the person who purchased the book. Thanks!
