Taking Care of You!

Tis’ the season! The hallways have been buzzing with the wonderful sounds of our Winter Concert. Next week is showtime! Please see the information below about the times of the concerts. Also, we wanted to point out that for our Grade 1 – 4 performance we will have a “dress rehearsal”. This might be a great option for our grandparents or those who would like to venture to the school not in the dark.

Let Learning Guide You: Our assemblies focus on the 7 Grandfather Teachings. So far, students have learned about the Bison (Respect) and the Eagle (Love). The students show wonderful examples of this every day. At our assembly on Friday, we introduced a colouring contest where students can colour a “True Raptor” page (link here). From now until Tuesday, if students turn these in to the office they will receive a ballot to enter the Comfy Couch contest for the Winter Concert. We are also collecting food bank donations to give back to our community! Students are demonstrating LOVE and RESPECT in many ways. We also had Brian from the Mustard Seed come chat with the students about the impact that our school’s Socktober donation made for the community. Way to go Raptors!

On a final note; the weather is (finally) getting a little cooler. Please remember to send your children ready to play outside. Also, our doors open at 8:25 a.m so students can stay toasty warm at home or in vehicles until just before this time!

Winter Concerts

We are so excited for our Winter Concerts next week! On Wednesday, December 13 EIP (PreK) parents are invited to the Music Room at 5:45 p.m. Kindergarten parents will be in the Gym starting a 6:30 p.m. On Thursday, December 14, Grade 1-4 parents have two chances to watch the Winter Concerts. In the afternoon, the students will rehearse starting at 1:00 p.m. The doors will open 30 minutes before all concerts to allow students to get to their classes to get lined up for the concert.

On both evening concerts, we will be running our Comfy Couch Contest for a student to win the best seats in the house. The winner’s family or any other guest can sit front row and centre. Students can enter by bringing in a food donation to the Leduc & District Food Bank, or by colouring one of our “True Raptor” posters. The posters are available in the office, or if they want to colour at home, you can find them here.

CBC Featuring RBES Leadership Team

CBC Radio Edmonton heard what great work was happening at Robina Baker! Mrs. Kaluza and her Student Leadership Team are proud recipients of United Way’s Make Your Mark Grant! The students decided that they wanted to make Cups of Caring to give to people in Devon who could use warm wishes and socks in a cup. Their mission is to connect with vulnerable members of our community and the people who care for them. Specifically, they thought of seniors, community helpers, and volunteers.

Earth Rangers

Our students enjoyed a virtual presentation by Earth Rangers on Thursday! They learned about some interesting animals, superhero animals, and conservation in Alberta. Even though it was virtual, students were able to ask questions and play games.

School Council & Fundraising

The Robina Baker Parent Fundraising and Volunteer Group got the BEST news this morning!

Thanks to our lead at Drake Insurance Agency – Devon, we were able to secure a TWENTY THOUSAND DOLLAR donation from Peace Hills Insurance!

With this donation comes a huge sigh of relief for us. With the deposit already paid on our new playground, we’ve been busting to make sure we have some wiggle room for the build, plus fundraising for the small things we support around the school.

This takes a huge amount of pressure off of us, and still allows us to help with small budgets around the school.
