KINDNESS IS IN THE AIR
February is a great month to think about kindness! This week in particular we were overwhelmed by the amount of kindness that we saw!
- Here are just a few evidenced examples of how the RBES community is taking care of themselves and others!
- Jump Rope for Heart – This week, our students took care of their hearts and bodies by participating in Jump Rope for Heart activities. Families can still donate through this link.
- Valentine’s Day – What a lovely day of kindness and love! Smiles were seen from one end of the school to the other with students sharing kindness to one another. Mrs. Kirton and Mr. Coffin were overwhelmed by the kindness that students showed!
- Toast – Did you know that Mrs. Ashdown, a wonderful and caring parent, comes every single day to prepare toast for our students in the morning? We can’t thank her enough for helping keep bellies full.
- Hot Lunch – Our school council took on Hot Lunch this year and we are so thankful to Katryn Mawson-Dalmer and her many volunteers who have kept us serving hot lunches every week!
- Fundraising – It was a wonderful surprise to have Mrs. Kaluza’s class welcomed back from Convention to a new ViewSonic. These interactive boards are wonderful learning tools for teachers and students. Our School Council and Fundraising Society made this happen with their fundraising efforts. We appreciate the generous donation!
- The Town of Devon donated Hot Chocolate last week for our Winter Walk Day! It was so great to have community members join us on that day!
- Each staff member had a kindness balloon that staff visited and shared kind messages on.
A long weekend is upon us for Family Day; we are hopeful that throughout the weekend you are able to enjoy some wonderful time with your families. The Town of Devon has some awesome events happening on Monday. This is also another site that offers some suggestions in the Edmonton area.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all you do to support your children and their educational journey!

A huge heartfelt thanks from Mrs. Kaluza’s Grade 1 class! “We love the new Viewsonic!” said Mrs. Kaluza. “It has so many awesome features compared to the projector and whiteboard.”
We are so grateful to our Parent Council and Fundraising Committee for supporting technology in education and our entire parent community for supporting all of our fundraising efforts.

Library Corner
- If you have any questions regarding your child’s account, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Please don’t be concerned if you get an overdue email, especially when your child missed their library period due to a PD day or being sick. It is just a reminder.
- Grade 1 students now may take out 2 books. The only classes taking out 1 book are the Kindergartens.
- Leduc Recreation Pass – Don’t forget about the Leduc Recreation Pass which can be checked out for a week.
- Amazon Wishlist – I have created an Amazon Wishlist for the library. You can check it out here: Amazon Wishlist. If you would like to buy one of these books for the library, please don’t forget to have Amazon send us a gift note with your name on it. I like to acknowledge the person who purchased the book. Thanks!
