Good Afternoon Robina Families,
It was a great first week back after the break! We hope our entire community had a restful and safe time off. We were thrilled to welcome our students back this week, and our staff was ready to dive into some excellent learning opportunities!
Speaking of learning, our teachers have begun the process of formally sharing your child’s progress with you through report cards. Many of our parents and caregivers regularly check their child’s academic updates on PowerSchool, so there should be no surprises. That said, report cards are a wonderful opportunity to discuss growth, learning, and future goals. Please note that PowerSchool will be shut down at the end of the day today so teachers can finalize updates and prepare report cards. These will be available on PowerSchool starting January 31st.
Our Kindergarten registration opened on Monday, and we’re thrilled to already have 34 registrations! This is exciting news. Please help us spread the word about registration and our OPEN HOUSE on January 21st.
We have more exciting news to share:
This week, Mr. Coffin and Mrs. Kirton met with Mr. Peterson and Ms. Kruse (Principal and Assistant Principal of Riverview Middle School) to discuss transition activities for our Grade 4 students. These activities aim to ensure a smooth and supportive move to Grade 5 at RMS. We take great care in planning this process to help our students feel welcomed and confident. Stay tuned for more details!
Our School Council met on Thursday evening. We are fortunate to have a wonderful and dedicated group of individuals working to make our school an even better place. It was great to see new faces at the meeting—everyone is welcome! After years of fundraising for our new park, the council and fundraising society are now able to support other school initiatives. So far this year, they have funded various technology-related projects, including digital subscriptions for classrooms and ViewSonic digital displays. Last night, they approved the purchase of 40 additional Chromebooks, which is an incredible commitment. This will provide two new carts for classrooms, reducing the need for sharing devices. With an upcoming casino fundraiser, the council also plans to support upgrades to our library. We are deeply grateful for their efforts and generosity!
Finally, a reminder that skating starts next week! Teachers need volunteers to help with this activity. If you’re able to assist, please let them know.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Mr. Coffin
