It was an exciting week this week!

After many years of fundraising, our Fundraising Society was finally ready to open up the gate for the park this week. Students have loved every minute of the play exploring different areas, climbing different devices, and of course spinning away! It was an amazing week of play and exploration.

This week we also wanted to give THANKS to all of our wonderful VOLUNTEERS! The Music room was set up on Friday for a “come and go” treat bar meant for anyone who has helped out this year. This year, we strived to bust open our doors and welcome in as many folks who were willing. From our “Love of Literacy” Grandma readers, to the countless parents who helped out with field trips, to those who stepped up and sat on council, to those who were able to show up and support school events – we appreciate ALL of you. There were so many volunteers who helped make life a little bit better for all our students and our staff. So THANK YOU!

Please save the date: June 14th from 3:30 to 5:00 will be a grand opening of our park!

It’s hard to believe we have reached the month of June. June is a very busy month in our schools with field trips, wrapping up units and plans, swimming, among other things! It’s important to remember that “communication is key”. It’s easy when we get used to routines to make assumptions that everyone is in the know. That’s why we commit to ensuring that we maintain communication with our families and we ask the same of you!

Next week, we will be posting our homeroom assignments for next year noting which staff will be with us as we journey into the 2024-2025 school year. Our staff is busy working on class lists, which will be released in late August.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Everyone is invited to attend our AGM

We have one last meeting before we wrap it up for another school year!

Our AGM is June 5th at 6 pm, and we have child care covered at the school for you! We know that childcare is a huge deterrent for many wanting to make it out to meetings, including myself, so we decided to create our own CouncilCare!

I’m sure we all know that we’re still desperately looking for positions to be filled this AGM. With many parents transitioning out of the Robina Baker Elementary School, there’s going to be a huge gap in our already small group.

It’s the School Council and the Fundraising Society that help support so many of the amazing projects around our school community, and without a fully functioning group, I fear for our future.

We are in desperate need of:
A Treasurer for Fundraising – you would have knowledge in basic bookkeeping and running accounts
A Secretary for both Council and Fundraising – you would send out a copy-and-paste style agenda for meetings and take notes in the meetings.
These positions will handed off in a way that we hope you’ll feel comfortable covering.

We are a welcoming and passionate group, committed to adding a little fun around our school community and our meetings. Please feel free to reach out and ask about any of these positions. Also, please feel free to come check it out on Wednesday. Let the kids party with the other kids and you can get a behind-the-scenes look at what’s happening.

We really hope to see you there!

From the Robina Baker Parent Fundraising and Volunteer Group:

We are treating the staff to a taco lunch on June 4th and we need volunteers for supervision
