    Assembly Highlights

This assembly was dedicated to Halloween Safety! Our students were taught how to be safe during trick-or-treating and then got to play a fun Kahoot game as a class.

    Congratulations Prize Winners!

We continue to be fortunate to hand out prizes at our assemblies! Most prizes have been donated or we are lucky enough to have earned them through reward points! You can see this week’s lucky recipients below. CONGRATULATIONS!!

Congratulations to 1A who won the Halloween Safety Kahoot!

    Spell-A-Thon Kick Off

During the Assembly, we kicked off our 8th Annual Spell-A-Thon! We showed the students all of the prizes that are available to be won! For every $10 in pledges that the student gets their name is put into a draw – and we have so many prizes!

Every year our community is so supportive of our Spell-A-Thon – from pledging students to supplying prizes. A HUGE THANK YOU to the Devon Home Hardware, Tim Hortons, Florida Pizza, Independent, Dominos, Marci’s, IGA and Dairy Queen for sponsoring our program.

On Friday your child should have gone home with all of the details about our Spell-A-Thon. You can click here for all of the details and to see the prizes!

I would also like to say a HUGE THANK YOU to Mrs. Forchuk and Mrs. Tewitz who organize this Spell-A-Thon every year!

    Celebrating Our Heroes

UPDATE: We have collected almost 500 gift cards to date! Thank you to all of those who have already sent some in. We look forward to receiving a few more over the next few days to reach our goal of filling 500 handmade cards with a $5 Tim’s card! We have made extra cards in case we have extra donations and we can give out even more cards. THANK YOU EVERYONE!!

REMINDER: The deadline to send gift cards in will be Wednesday, October 27 as we would like to have time to get these put into the cards and delivered by Halloween. We appreciate your support in this community project and helping us teach our students how to make a difference. An act of kindness, no matter how small, can make a positive impact in someone’s day!

We want to make sure no Robina Baker healthcare provider is left out! If you know of an RBES parent who doesn’t work in a hospital but is working in the medical community, please email us their name and we will ensure they receive a card and some love from us as well. You can email these names to: [email protected]

    HALLOWEEN

Students can choose to wear a traditional costume or dress up as one of their heroes, which is a side theme this year. Please remember that we have PK-Grade 4 students and some of our students are as young as 3 years old, so costumes need to be child friendly. We are working on a way to have a Covid safe costume parade for our students. If the weather is favourable (no snow or rain), we will bundle up and have a traditional class costume parade outside. If it is cold, we will find a way to parade digitally. We remind parents that NO TREATS are to be brought to school to be shared.

We encourage the following with our costumes for school dress up:

    • Creative, fun and friendly.
    • Traditional children ghost and witch costumes.
    • Super-heroes and princesses.
    • Animated characters eg. Pooh Bear, Pokemon, Minion
    • Fuzzy animal costumes.

We kindly ask that there are:

    • No missing body parts.
    • No bloody masks or overly significant bloody makeup.
    • No weapons.
    • No gory or frightening costumes.
    • No clowns like the one that is popular from the movie IT.

Fundraising Committee needs a Vice President!

PLEASE HELP! We are currently looking for a Fundraising Committee Vice President. This person provides support to our President and volunteers for what they can for fundraisers. You would have a great support team around you, many of who have been a part of the group for a few years. The Committee currently provides funding for Mathletics, Student Agendas, and Classroom Budgets. As well, a committee within the committee is dedicated to raising funds for our new playground. The Playground Committee reports to the Fundraising Committee, however, separate fundraising initiatives are set aside specifically for the playground. THANK YOU Torrie Fisher for stepping up to be our President! It is greatly appreciated!

If you or someone you know would be interested in working with our Fundraising Committee, please email: [email protected]
