Assembly
We have now started our regular virtual assemblies on Friday mornings. Our theme this fall is RESPECT. We also have a sub-theme of BELONGING. You can click on the button below to see our agenda and view some of our links. There is a wonderful slideshow that many classrooms contributed their thoughts to the question: What can we do at RBES to make sure everyone feels like they belong?
We have also been very fortunate to have some items donated to us for prizes by Merriott Fitness. Those prizes along with some scholastic books and other random donations will be given out as student prizes throughout the year! You can see this week’s lucky recipients below. CONGRATULATIONS!!
Celebrating Our Heroes
We are so excited about a new project that we are working on this month that incorporates Thanksgiving and Halloween! Thanksgiving because we are so GRATEFUL and Halloween as we want to GIVE TREATS instead of focusing on getting treats. Throughout this pandemic, we have all appreciated and are so thankful for our Front Line Workers. This month, we want to focus on our nurses and highlight them as the HEROES that they are! Our staff has decided to dress up this Halloween as nurses and we are encouraging our students to join us in honoring their heroes when we dress up on Friday, October 29. If they already have their costumes picked out, no problem!
To show our appreciation the students and staff are making handmade cards for our heroes that will be shared with medical personnel in our community and neighbouring communities. We have chosen 4 local hospitals to share our love with. We would like to include a $5 gift card to Tim Hortons in each handmade card. If you would like to join us in saying thank you to these heroes, please purchase a $5 Tim Hortons gift card and send it in with your child. Our goal is to GIVE TREATS this Halloween and honour about 500 medical HEROES. The deadline to send gift cards in will be Wednesday, October 27 as we would like to have time to get these put into the cards and delivered by Halloween. We appreciate your support in this community project and helping us teach our students how to make a difference. An act of kindness, no matter how small, can make a positive impact in someone’s day!
We want to make sure no Robina Baker healthcare provider is left out! If you know of an RBES parent who doesn’t work in a hospital, but is working in the medical community, please email us their name and we will ensure they receive a card and some love from us as well. You can email these names to: [email protected]
HELP WANTED
PLEASE HELP! We are currently looking for a Fundraising Committee President. This person essentially runs the meetings and keeps tabs on the various fundraising projects. You would have a great support team around you, many of who have been a part of the group for a few years. The Committee currently provides funding for Mathletics, Student Agendas, and Classroom Budgets. As well, a committee within the committee is dedicated to raising funds for our new playground. The Playground Committee reports to the Fundraising Committee, however, separate fundraising initiatives are set aside specifically for the playground.
If you or someone you know would be interested in working with our Fundraising Committee, please email: [email protected]
