    Good Afternoon Robina Families,

We leaned in with some important learning and activities this week!

Terry Fox: John Maland High School, Riverview Middle School, and Robina Baker all came together for our Terry Fox Walk/Run on Wednesday. We started off with a miniature assembly discussing Terry Fox and the importance of his legacy. We had students from RMS and many parents/grandparents join our classes as they completed their route. Thank you to everyone who came out for this important cause.

School Council/Fundraising: Our School Council and Fundraising group met for the first time this year on Wednesday evening. The room was quite full of amazing folks who are eager to help and support our school environment. There is always a great opportunity to learn about what is going on behind the scenes at the school and with our local trustee. We also discussed some advocacy work the council is pursuing as well as some upcoming fun events such as a Halloween Family Dance and an annual Christmas Movie Night. Stay tuned for more information. The Fundraising Committee also discussed some exciting fundraisers and future events such as a Casino fundraiser. Now that the park is completed, the Fundraising group is committed to helping us upgrade some of our technology in the school. Their contributions will ensure ALL of our classrooms are equipped with a View Sonic (Interactive Screens) by Christmas!

Orange Shirt Day: Annually, we recognize Orange Shirt Day as close to September 30th as possible. Students engaged in various learning opportunities throughout the day and we have created a learning walk in one of our hallways of their great learning. Be sure to stop by the school to check it out as we’ll leave it up for a little while (it’s just outside the office towards the music room). I encourage you to check out events, including the Town of Devon on Monday. There are some great virtual activities available through the Royal Alberta Museum!
