    Welcome Back

We are so excited to welcome you back to school! It is going to be a great year! We created this page as a means to communicate to you some upcoming information as it pertains to the start of the school year!

    A Few New Faces

We have a few new faces in the building who are so looking forward to interacting with you and your children this year.

Mr. Coffin – “I’m so excited to be back at Robina to fulfill the role as Principal. Having worked in the Devon community for the past 7 years I have gained a huge respect for this community and the families within it. I have been a part of the journey of many children in Devon having both worked at Robina Baker and Riverview in administrative roles. Having three children myself all around the same age as students within this school I can relate to the celebrations and challenges of supporting young children and their growth. I’m looking forward to engaging with each and every one of you. Please, at any time, feel free to stop by and introduce or re-introduce yourself”.

Mrs. Kirton – “I am thrilled to join the Robina Baker team in my role as Assistant Principal and Learning Support Teacher. I also get the privilege of teaching some grade 2 this year! Devon is a beautiful community and I am excited at the opportunity to engage and collaborate with community partners. As a fellow parent with two young children, I wholeheartedly agree with Mr. Coffin’s sentiment regarding the multitude of joys and hurdles that come with young children. The wonder and growth that young children bring into our lives makes the journey truly remarkable and I am absolutely honored to be a part of your child’s journey! I look forward to getting to know you all!”

We’d also like to warmly welcome:

Mr. Scott – Mr. Scott comes to Robina after a few years of supporting the music program at Riverview Middle School.  Mr. Scott is a talented musician and students have been fortunate to see the RMS student band in action during guest concerts at Robina in the past couple of years. Mr. Scott will be supporting the Music program at Robina as well as helping support some PE and Art classes. Welcome, Mr. Scott!

Mrs. Christian – Mrs. Christian is no stranger to the Devon community. You might know her either as a Yoga guru or the voice on the other line at Riverview for many years. Mrs. Christian is excited about the opportunity to take on secretarial duties at Robina alongside Mrs. Horrocks. Welcome Mrs. Christian!

Mrs. Hagel – Mrs. Hagel is joining us as our librarian this year. She comes with a large amount of experience and education in the library field. Having previously acted in roles as library technician with Parkland School Division as well as at Riverview Middle School and John Maland High School we know the library is in good hands. Welcome to Robina Mrs. Hagel.

    Homeroom Assignments

We know that many parents and students are curious to hear about who their homeroom teacher will be. On Monday, August 28th, you will receive confirmation of your child’s homeroom classroom along with a letter from the teacher introducing themselves. You can click on this button below to see the Staff and Class List.

    Welcome Back BBQ

We are excited to invite you all for a Welcome Back BBQ on Tuesday, August 29.  Follow your nose –  come to the front door for a bite to eat then head into the school to tour around and meet the teachers in their classrooms. Stop by anytime between 4:30 and 6:00. We’ve coordinated our plan with Riverview in case any families have siblings at the middle school.

First Day of School (Grade 1-4)

The first full day of school for students in Grades 1-4 is Wednesday, August 30th. All students are welcome through the front doors of the school. Staff will help direct students to their classrooms. Please share your first day of school photos with us – you can email Mrs. Horrocks.

    First Day of School (Kindergarten)

Kindergarten Students begin their school year with staggered entry. Kindergarten teachers will be in touch when your child is scheduled to come for their staggered entry time. Staggered entry allows an opportunity for teachers to go through the routines with fewer students.

The first full day of Kindergarten will take place on:

    Monday/Wednesday Class – Friday, September 1st
    Tuesday/Thursday Class – Tuesday, September  5th
Morning Class – Friday, September 1st

Pre-Kindergarten Parents – Mrs. Porter will contact you regarding orientation visits, staggered entry dates, and all other details as it pertains to Pre-Kindergarten.

    Bell Times and Door Times

Grade 1 – 4 Entrance Times and Doors:

Grade 1-3 Students will utilize the front doors to come into the school.  Grade 4 Students will line up at the entrance nearest the playground. Teachers will work with students on the first day of school so they know where their class’s spot is to line up. Doors will be open for students at 8:25 with classes starting at 8:35. Please do not drop your child off any sooner than 8:15 as supervision will not be available outside the building until that time. If you need childcare prior to 8:15, please contact Happy Kids Childcare to see if they have availability for before-school care.

Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten Entrance Times and Doors:

Kindergarten and Pre-Kindergarten Students will utilize the entrance at the back of the school. Teachers will communicate specific start and end times.
