This week was Mental Health Week at Robina Baker! We had a wonderful week here at the school and I want to thank Mrs. Mullen and Mrs. Kaluza for their work in organizing activities that helped us truly define an important pillar here at Robina Baker; “Taking Care of You!”

Each day was filled with activities for students to participate in. On Monday, students were welcomed with mindful music and found giant mindful colouring pages in common areas in the school. This was a wonderful way for students from all grade levels to meet one another and for students who might have just been looking for a moment of peace. The staff even had one in our staff room! On Tasty Tuesday students were given a bag of fresh vegetables from our local IGA. On Wednesday everyone wore special hats to support Mental Health awareness. The local Lions Club was also in attendance and read to our students and donated to our library. What a wonderful community we live in! On Thursday, students were treated to a “secret recess” and on Friday the hallways were full of the wonderful spell of pancakes for students in the morning.

It is weeks like these that show the true spirit of community. I am thankful to our entire staff who always come together to make “core memories” for kiddos.

Please note that next week a fence will be installed on the west side of our schoolyard between the school and the fence near the arena. Access will not be available from the school parking lot to walk around to the back of the school. This will remain in place until park installation is complete. This will block access from the west side of the school and the small park will be unavailable. For parents, in particular, our Kinder and PK students who drop their children off, the best place to park and bring your students to their door will be from the pool and arena parking lot. This is all in preparation for the installation of our new park. We hope to have the entire project wrapped up and the new park ready to play in by June 1st! Exciting times ahead!

Have a wonderful weekend! Happy Mother’s Day!

    •   Amazon Wishlist If you would like to buy one of these books for the library, please don’t forget to have Amazon send us a gift note with your name on it.  I like to acknowledge the person who purchased the book.  Thanks!
    • Thanks to those of you who have donated books from the Amazon Wishlist!!  That is fantastic and very much appreciated!

Please help us plan for next year by letting us know if your child will not be returning to Robina Baker next year.  If your Grade 4 student will be going to Riverview Middle School, you do not have to let us know.
