NEW WEBSITE!
We are super excited to announce a new upgrade and FRESH look for both our RBES website and the BLACK GOLD website. My Weekly Update has also moved to this new format and is embedded into our website and is called Principal’s Corner. If you click on the search bar on the home page of the website, that is one place to find a few quick short cuts to some of our popular pages or you can try to search by topic.
Our office team, Mrs. Horrocks, Mrs. Culp, and I, are really excited to be able to offer a one stop shop for all of our communication to our RBES families. It may take us a few weeks to get everything updated and we are working on this behind the scenes when we are able.

CONGRATULATIONS!
There are some staff celebrations and congratulations that are overdue and I am finally able to share!
Over the summer we had two staff members get married. We would like to send out Congratulations and Best Wishes to Mrs. Hafso (nee Starostecki) and Mrs. Sweetnam (nee Coleman) and their respective husbands!!
Next I would like to send out CONGRATULATIONS to some staff who have reached some important milestones at Black Gold School Division. First I would like to wish Mrs. Courtemanche all the best in her next chapter in life as she made the decision to retire over the summer! We are all so excited for her and although we miss her, we are happy for her! Unfortunately Mrs. Courtemanche is very shy and she would prefer to keep things low key and so there are no pictures to share.
During our Black Gold Virtual Welcome Back Celebration, we honored a number of RBES staff as they reached milestones of their own as a Black Gold employee. Please join me in Congratulating the following staff for their dedicated service: Mrs. Pennycook (who is currently on leave), Mrs. Suter (Gr. 2), Mrs. Spreen (Gr. 3), Mrs. Horrocks (Office), Mrs. Rothfos (Gr. 4), Mrs. Hafso (Gr. 3), and Mrs. Porter (PK). Unfortunately if I waited to get pictures of everyone, this post would never happen, so I am featuring two of our long service award winners along with a list of their years of service! We are so LUCKY to have so many talented people on our RBES team!
SCHOOL COUNCIL & FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE
Thank you to all that participated in our virtual parent meetings this week for both the School Council and Fundraising Committee. We have lots of great things lined up for the year and will do our best to work around Covid-19 and it’s ongoing challenges.
PLEASE HELP! We are currently looking for a Fundraising Committee President. This person essentially runs the meetings and keeps tabs on the various fundraising projects. You would have a great support team around you, many who have been a part of the group for a few years. The Committee currently provides funding for Mathletics, Student Agendas, and Classroom Budgets. As well, a committee within the committee, is dedicated to raising funds for our new playground. The Playground Committee reports to the Fundraising Committee, however, separate fundraising initiatives are set aside specifically for the playground.
If you or someone you know would be interested in working with our Fundraising Committee, please email: [email protected]
